helloo! I’m Daffnie and I’m an artist currently based in Germany with my husband, Adrian. ♥

I work from my at home studio accompanied by my furbabies, Lily, Kai, and Mischa.

Drawing and painting are my emphasis, but I do enjoy working on other media such as printmaking, woodworking and sculpture. For fun I like to dive into portraiture and the figure inspired by horror theme/media on the side, I hope to tie this into my main work some day! After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2019, I have been working on art that I distribute via my Patreon, while also streaming a variety of content on Twitch.

Thanks for stopping by! ♥

Artist Statement

My current body of work revolves around my life’s inner social network and how it impacts me as an artist. I aim to create a sense of connection and comfort through my work that intimately ties to my everyday struggles dealing with fibromyalgia. Working primarily with oil paint on wood panels, it is important to me to highlight the physicality of each painting. My way of manipulating the paintings is a visual interpretation of my anxiety, depression and the often debilitating impact of the countless medications prescribed to me for my condition over the years. Leaving sketch marks, finger prints from the earlier stages of the painting, as well as the wood grain of the panel represents the value I attribute to every step I take towards feeling better.

Each piece documents the way I have overcome the frustration of sometimes being unable to channel my desire to create art in a way I have always known. In particular my paintings are of people, pets, and objects that mean a lot to me, and they are painted with the tenderness they invoke in me. On the other hand, people’s clothing is painted in a more abstract manner, with a palette knife. Photographing all subjects and references myself is a way for me to maintain a relationship with them, and is in itself a bonding experience.

I arrange my work to form a web, where the varying degrees of closeness of each subject is shown with different sizes of panels, as well as their position relative to me. The subjects near the center are my main inspiration to keep improving myself both as a person and as an artist, and to overcome the hardships in the way.
